Human beings, persistent little parasites.
Humanity will outlive this virus, hopefully. We don't really have a choice, do we? We out lived the world wars, cold wars, earthquakes, tsunamis, terrorist attacks, volcanic eruptions, pandemics, global warming and countless other attacks, man-made or the other kind. Kings and Queens of survival we are, resilient as fuck.
But how many of us will survive social distancing unscathed? That my dear friend is another issue altogether. The social predator, accustomed to drifting through life oblivious to the storm brewing inside is now standing face to face with the demons inside its head. Sure shot recipe for disaster, eh?
Being alone is a choice but being lonely? I wish there was an on/off switch for that. Alexa, is there anything that can be done about it?
I can only imagine how people who are living alone feel at this particular time. My heart goes out to you. Calm down those atrocious thoughts in your head and heal. Take care of yourself physically and mentally. Learn new hobbies, watch scary movies, read new books. And if you get bored from reading, play PUBG, maybe?
What about the ones stuck with the wrong people? The ones stuck with their abusers, related by blood or not? The people who live with their worst nightmare right under one roof. What about them? There is absolutely no place to escape to. Mentally or physically. No drugs to numb your pain. No alcohol to drown out your sorrows.
I know emotional abuse is still a taboo topic in our society but if you live with an abusive parent, family member or spouse, may whatever personal God you preach to, gives you strength. It is an exceptionally difficult time for you, hang in there little soldier, there is light at the end of this tunnel too.
The law enforcement agencies might not even register domestic abuse complaints during this lock-down, and even if they did, where would the dependent go?
Should we assign certain hotels/hostels as a temporary shift in base? Will people stand up and volunteer as our security and medical services are already exhausted? Or is it uneconomical/illogical in this already fucked up world?
Does an injury count only if it is visible? Will people be taken seriously only if they are diagnosed with the Covid-19 flu? There is no middle ground this time, no?
Who knew fever, cough and body ache will outweigh the bruises, trauma and heartache someday.
